Neurointervention (Cathlab Procedures)

Stroke Mechanical Thrombectomy

A revolutionary emergency procedure to remove blood clots from blocked brain arteries during acute stroke. Dr. Madhukar T Nayak uses a stent retriever or aspiration device via a catheter to restore blood flow. Performed within the golden window, this technique significantly improves outcomes, prevents permanent brain damage, and saves lives in ischemic stroke cases.

Carotid, Vertebral, and Intracranial Artery Stenting

Stenting helps restore blood flow in narrowed or blocked arteries supplying the brain. Dr. Nayak expertly places stents in carotid, vertebral, or intracranial vessels via minimally invasive techniques. This prevents strokes, improves circulation, and stabilizes vascular health—especially in patients with high stroke risk or recurrent transient ischemic attacks (TIAs).

Aneurysm Coiling and Stenting

Dr. Nayak treats brain aneurysms using minimally invasive coiling and stenting techniques. Through a small groin puncture, coils are deployed to block blood flow into the aneurysm, while stents reinforce vessel walls. This prevents rupture, avoids open surgery, and ensures faster recovery, especially in complex aneurysms not suitable for clipping.

Flow Diverter Stenting

Flow diverters are specialized stents used in treating large, wide-necked, or difficult-to-reach brain aneurysms. Dr. Nayak uses this advanced technique to divert blood away from the aneurysm sac, promoting natural healing and reducing rupture risk. It offers a safe, durable solution for aneurysms not amenable to coiling or clipping.

AVM / Dural AVF Embolization

Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) and dural arteriovenous fistulas (AVFs) are abnormal blood vessel connections that can cause bleeding or seizures. Dr. Nayak performs embolization using tiny catheters to block these abnormal vessels with coils or special agents. This minimally invasive method reduces the risk of hemorrhage and may be curative or used pre-surgery.
